Product Description

Product Description

Brittany has long been a favourite destination for the UK and it is famous for its cultural heritage and Celtic links with Cornwall, its natural beauty and the strong sea-faring traditions that still continue into the 21st century This travel guide is devided into two parts. The first explores the region via typical themes with specialist maps pinpointing the best place to pursue an interest - the best chateaux, the best views, the best walks and more. The second is the visiting section, subdividing the region into smaller areas, recommending towns, villages, areas of natural beauty and monuments and attractions. The guide caters for all ages, from children to grandparents and offers information for things to do and see for people who enjoy active and varied holidays.

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative "Spotcheck" sections for each area of the region, 27 Jan 2001
By A Customer
Planning a holiday to France and wanting to make the most of the time? Then you couldn't do much better than turning to the Hachette Vacances Series. Having bought the Poitou Charentes & the Vendee edition one weekend I was so impressed with the compact size, content and lay-out of this helpful book that I bought the one on Brittany from Amazon!

The series written by French nationals splits the Brittany region into districts such as Vannes with a "Spotcheck" section listing "Things to do" and "Within Easy Reach" and it also offers telephone numbers for attractions, tourist office etc. They identify things to do for all the family highlighting not only the cultural highlights but also lots of attractions that should ensure the younger members of your party can have a great time. In addition there are short sections on the geography, history, sports, and suggested walks within the region.

The guide includes suggestions for a long weekend, a week or even longer in each area which could be very useful to someone planning a trip to an area, but uncertain where to go.

All in all, the contents of these helpful, very readable books should ensure that you make the most of your brief or longer holiday to the region by ensuring you are informed about the places to visit before you arrive.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Brittany guide, 3 May 2001
By A Customer
As a specialist tour operator to Brittany, we have over 20 years of holidaying in this region of France and have read all the guides. This is the best we have seen. The sections about aspects of Breton life are excellent and give a wonderful flavour of the region. The specific chapters on the areas are very well ilustrated and the text is clear and informative. You can get an excellent flavour of the region.
