Product Description

Product Description

Clear Light contains 150 haiku bursting with Alan Spence's characteristic verve and wit. Mythic and mesmerising, awestruck and hilarious, these poems shed clear light on the delights, hardships, breakthroughs and frustrations of the world of the momentary. Simple in form, these haiku request a fresh look at the familiar and leave us reeling at how much in the world, from the exotic to the everyday, we have yet to observe.

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
Alan Spence is a contemporary Scottish poet and a meditation practioner. He also writes wonderful haiku, many of them born out of (and honed by) his meditation practice. These are simply beautiful haiku, not trying to impress anybody, not trying to preach, not in fact being anything except themselves.

Read one a day. Or several. This little book is ideal for handbags and schoolbags, waiting-rooms, bus-stops, coffee-breaks, departure lounges. I think it will appeal to a wide variety of people, including those who are reluctant about "modern poetry". It could be a special gift for a friend or for oneself.
