WEST OF IRELAND SUMMERS was in THE INDEPENDENT'S 'The Ten Best Summer Cookbooks' on 4 August 03): 'This one, recalling the author's childhood summer is as suitable for the sun-lounger as it is for the kitchen. Product Description

WEST OF IRELAND SUMMERS: A COOKBOOK is a celebration of food. In this vivid account of summers spent in the remote beauty of the west of Ireland Tamasin Day-Lewis rekindles the sights, sounds, smells and, above all, the tastes of her family holidays since childhood. Tamasin Day-Lewis's passion for cooking is evident in more than 100 dishes; some traditional Irish recipes, some recapturing the tastes of her childhood and others created by Tamasin herself. These combined with stunning photographs and a lively text make this a truly irresistable cookery book.

5.0 out of 5 stars So much more than just a cookbook, 11 Dec 2000
By A Customer
This book is an absolute winner for those who like their cookbooks to consist of more than just recipes. Evocative photographs transported me back to my Irish childhood, as did a number of the traditional Irish recipes, and the descriptions of meals enjoyed with families and friends reminded me of the pleasure that can be derived from feeding those you love. Besides providing helpful tips and guidance, the introductions to many of the recipes illustrated the author's obvious love of food. Tamasin Day Lewis easily rivals the best of them, and gets the vote for the most inspirational foodwriter - at least on MY shelf!

5.0 out of 5 stars homely cooking and writing, 25 Aug 2001
By A Customer
I loved this book. The style is similar to Nigella's writing which I also love, and is the sort of book to read for comfort just as the eating can be. Inspiring and encouraging it makes cooking for friends and family a delight not a chore.

5.0 out of 5 stars One recipe, 7 Nov 2001

I can't speak for the other recipes cause I have only tried the chocolate hazelnut cake. I can't stop making it. Delicious - wholesome and ever so slightly decadent!
