5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully written insight into France and its gastronomy, 11 Mar 2000
By bella_lcw@hotmail.com (Edinburgh, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This is one of those books that makes you want to pack up and move across the channel! It gives a fascinating insight into the culinary traditions of France, and it is reassuringly traditional - none of the trendy lemongrass or fusion food here.

While probably aimed at the more confident cook, it would provide inspiration for cooks of any level of aptitude. The photographs and short passages describing the author's time spent with various families and in particular areas of France are very evocative.

Definitely recommended for anyone that loves France and the fabulous recipes it has given us.
