A collection of stunning black and white photographs themed across highland, coastline and woodland.

I've seen loads of books with Scottish landscape as the subject, and it's hard to go wrong. However, the range and precision in this collection is remarkable, and the monochromatic images have a surreal and abstract quality.

As the author writes in the introduction:

"The removal of colour from a familliar scene instantly introduces an abstract quality to the image - it forces us to use our imagination. In a black and white photograph, familiar scenes in nature are transformed into an elegant world of shapge, form, texture and light where our imagination is permitted to roam."

Spot on. I'm a rubbish photographer myself, but these pictures inspire you to get out there into the wilderness and take something back with you. I could look at them for hours, really.

This is what Black & White landscape photography is all about.

Pin sharp, beautifully toned images,of the most beautiful wee country in the world.(Scotland, in case you were wondering).

Craig McMaster has produced a collection of photographs that make me want to stop being too lazy to get up in the morning, & get out in to the hills. I think anyone seeing these pictures will feel the same. In fact, where are my walking boots......
