5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful and thoughtful book, 8 Sep 2004
By A Customer
Chiang yee brings fresh eyes to Edinburgh( a most beautiful city), exploring the city in all weathers, finding unexpected delights. He contemplates historic events and draws comparisons with Chinese history and legend. He compares the Scottish philosophy with Confucian and enjoys conversing with Edinburgh "worthies". I really enjoyed reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable read, 28 Aug 2007

I enjoyed this book immensely. Amazingly, the modern reader will recognise most of the places he mentions in 1940s Edinburgh. If there are any differences, it makes the book all the more interesting. The sketches and pictures are beautiful and he makes you see Edinburgh through his eyes.
