5.0 out of 5 stars Scotch Hail!, 23 April 2002
By A Customer
As a lover of Scottish beer, and living as I do in North East England where it is readily available, this book is the perfect tempter to pop out to my nearest pub for a pint of excellent "Scotch ale".For those not so fortunate it acts as a reminder of what you are missing.
Don't be put off by thinking this is just a book for "beer bores",author Gavin D. Smith delivers a history of Scotland's other national drink, the one that preceded the more famous whisky. In bringing the story up to date he details the individuals behind the mash tuns, the environment the brewery is located in,thereby including some of the splendour of Scotland.Ask yourself why someone would relocate to the Isles of Arran,Lewis,Orkney and Shetland to start up a micro-brewery.After reading a copy of The Scottish Beer Bible you'll have the answer and the desire to book a passage to them with Caledonian MacBrayne ferries.
