Product Description

Product Description

This enlightening and spiritually uplifting book is designed to help those with a lively questioning spirit who want to create and develop their own spiritual pathway in today's hectic world. Illustrated with original artwork, the book is simple to use, as each of the Celtic Seasons has meditations, blessings and rituals, divided into morning and evening practice. Each day of the week has its own devotions and there are also blessings for special occasions that can be incorporated into daily practice. Drawing on the influence of early Celtic times, the text combines traditional blessings with specially written prayers and meditations. The material springs from the spiritual current of Celtic tradition, both from the primal, animistic spirituality of early times and from the Celtic Christianity that was the civilizing influence of Europe.

4.0 out of 5 stars A cellebration of life..., 31 Oct 2002
By A Customer
This beautifully written and crafted book brings home the delight with which the celts celebrated the world around them. It offers the reader a basis for their own daily devotions, thoughts to meditate on as well as prayers for special days and occasions. I have found it a lovely book to use and to learn from.

5.0 out of 5 stars A superb framework for spiritual practice, 15 Feb 2009
I have been using this book regularly for 12 years. (I am 63) I have found it an enormous support. It is an essential part of my life. I found it (or it found me) when things were so difficult I honestly feared for my sanity. Somehow it gave me a sense of real connection to things other than those which were so distressing. This was not, however, merely "escapism". This support enabled me to hold to my path which eventually took me, and others, to a better place. Despite ongoing major concerns for my children, depite having become disabled and just about "house-bound"I still feel I have been given the "freedom of the universe". I know we're in for another "sticky patch". (My husband has just been diagnosed with cancer), but the fear of not being able to cope is very much reduced by the past experience of "coming through". This book, and the attitudes and patterns I have learned from it have been truly helpful in dicovering what "the good life" (and death!) means to me and in trying to live it day on day. I have added in bits of spiritual practice from other traditions (e.g. Bhuddist mindfulness and compassion meditation, some elements of Celtic Christianity - the Celtic Devotional is not specifically in the Christian tradition). I don't think there is anything in the Celtic Devotional that would conflict with any other spiritual tradition that is based on the principles of love, gratitude, service - and joy.
