Product Description

Although not as glamorous as vehicles such as the Panther and Tiger, the Panzer IV formed an extremely important part of the German armoured forces during World War II. This title provides detailed 1/72-scale build articles on a Panzer IV Ausf. H in winter camouflage, a lagdpanzer IV, a late-version Sturmpanzer IV, a final version Sturmgeschutz IV, and a Flakpanzer IV Wirbelwind. Conversions, interior detailing, kit-bashing, adding aftermarket figures and parts, finishing and weathering, plus special scale techniques (such as reproducing zimmerit and simple mould making) are all covered in clearly explained, step-by-step detail. A gallery section also features Panzer IV Ausf. H, Panzer IV L/70 (V), and Panzer IV L/70 (A) variants.

5.0 out of 5 stars Osprey enter a brave new world, 31 Jul 2005
This long time since anyone published a book soley on small scale modelling of AFV`s, this book is worth that wait.
The author takes you through Five projects, each one is desribed in easy to follow steps aided with the use of photo`s.
Various techniques are covered, for example; the application of zimmerit paste, use of resin and photoetch parts, use of the airbrush. The author also lists the Kits and after market accesories available for the Panzer IV and where to find reference material.
The book is very nicely set out and the techniques that the author covers can be used on any 1/72nd or 1/76th scale AFV model.
I`m not a big fan of German armour modelling but a quick browse through the book was enough to make me buy it. But i would only recomend this book to someone of at least an intermediate level of modelling skill. An absolute beginnner would find the book very daunting.
This book represents very good value for money. Osprey must be given a pat on the back for finally realising that small scale do modellers exist.
