We found this book very helpful when we spent a few weeks in London this summer. It tells you how to get to museums in ways tourists like us can understand, as well as what to see in them when we get there. It's also very funny and well-written and great size to keep in your handbag!

Many of us who have lived in London all our lives have no idea of what treasures the capital holds beyond the obvious. We've found this little book very helpful not only in uncovering neglected gems, such as the Linley-Sambourne House or the Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art, but in telling us how and when to get to them. It's useful too for the extra information it provides on the major attractions such as the Science Museum. On the other hand, don't expect cool lists of must-sees: the author is not only knowledgeable but clearly passionately engaged with his subject and offers strong opinions on vexed topics such as Tate Britain. All of which makes for entertaining reading! Much recommended.
