Product Description

Review

"We wanted to let you know how much we loved the Nigeria book and how helpful and accurate we found it." --Fiona and Adrian Munn

I am to congratulate you for the important contribution the publication has made to the growing literature on Travel Guides, particularly about Nigeria. --Anthony Adeloye, Librarian for the High Commissioner of Nigeria

Product Description

"Nigeria" encourages visitors to cast aside the country's reputation for crime and corruption, and experience the hospitality and generosity of Nigeria's greatest asset -- its people. Over three times the size of the UK, Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa. The guide provides a detailed look at the country's rich history, from the slave trade to numerous coups and its vibrant and diverse culture as represented in its music, dress, arts, and festivals. Centre of extremes, Lagos is covered in detail with plenty of tips for expats. This guide is packed with information for all: backpackers, overlanders, expats, business travelers, and diplomats.
* Safety and security section updated in detail * New sights in the southeast -- Odudu Plateau cable car (the longest in Africa), Tinapa (a new duty-free zone shopping complex) and forest canopy walks * Expanded coverage of Yankari and Gashaka Gumpti National Parks * Lagos and Abuja - new shopping malls, cinemas, entertainment and nightlife

5.0 out of 5 stars A 'Must Buy" for anyone living in or visiting Nigeria, 31 Aug 2005
By Alan Parke (Lagos, Nigeria) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have lived in Nigeria now for over seven years and I met Lizzie when she came to Lagos to write the book. Within the space of a few weeks, Lizzie has come to understand Nigeria and the Nigerian people in a way that many long term residents have not. Time and time again I found myself recognising places and situations exactly as I had experienced them. She writes with great empathy for her subject and tells it as it is, the good and the bad. I showed it to a couple of my Nigerian friends and they loved it, agreeing with almost all Lizzie had to say. This book is quite simply a must for anyone living in or visiting Nigeria, as well as being a cracking good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and invaluable, 5 Aug 2009
By Neil Bailey "neilbailey" (uk) - See all my reviews

I endorse the comments in the previous review. This is an excellent guide, and I came to rely upon it extensively during my stay. It is also very well written, and a good read for people tempted to 'try' Nigeria for the first time. Would have appreciated a mini 'road atlas' section, but otherwise cannot fault it.
