5.0 out of 5 stars Belgrade in your hands, 10 Jan 2006
By B. Rabotic (Licensed Guide and Lecturer) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This brand-new guidebook authored by Laurence Mitchell offers not only partly extracted texts from his ‘Serbia: Brad Travel guide’, but a whole new and very detailed view of Belgrade, an emerging European city-break travel destination. Having visited the Serbian capital several times, Mitchell describes what he noticed and inspected on the spot, in fact everything that a prospective traveler might encounter in the city. While his first book should unavoidably be read as a general and excellently written introduction to various facets of Serbia and her life, the second book - dedicated to Belgrade and focused on its attractions, serves as a necessary travel companion offering in its 13 chapters a great deal of practical and accurate information, suggestions, well-judged comments on monuments, attractions, hotels, restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars etc. As an experienced local tourism professional I am still wandering how the author succeeded in ‘capturing’ so many interesting details on Belgrade which are hardly known even to Belgraders themselves!
