Product Description

Synopsis
With plenty of background on the belief and customs of the Malagasy people, this guide to Madagascar addresses the challenges and rewards of travel on this unique island, with coverage of the extraordinary natural history and information on accommodation, transport and the country's improving infrastructure.

From the Author
I am passionate about Madagsacar!
It was love at first sight! After two years of living and travelling in Africa I was utterly beguiled by the "otherness" of Madagascar when I first went there in 1996. Everything I saw, from people to plants and animals, were different from anything I had experienced elsewhere. I became a committed Madophile. First I convinced a tour operator to let me lead trips there, then I wrote a booklet for my tourists explaining the history, wildlife and culture of the island, and in 1986 I spent three months researching the first edition of this guide. I have since returned over 20 times and have written three other Madagascar books as well as countless articles. Madophilia is incurable! --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
