4.0 out of 5 stars Shadow of the Seer shadowed, but a good read, 24 April 2003
By Scott D. Olson (Blaine, Minnesota USA) - See all my reviews
This is a change of pace, in a way, for the Winter of the World series. Rather than being set in North America or Europe, it's in Asia. Rather than smithcraft, the protagonist is a Seer, familiar to readers of the series from the seers of the Ekwesh with their masks. It's a darker book, too, full of little victories against an enemy that everyone knows will win in the end.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, though, MSR gave it his usual deft touch and there were a number of interesting twists where characters from earlier books put in appearances great and small. One of those characters showed us a side we didn't see in her previous appearances. And an interesting side it was, too. Looking forward to the next book MSR puts out, though they're the devil to get in the US!

Mike Scott Rohan delivers yet another fine addition to his Winter of the World Series, the depth of research and the quality of story is excellent as always. Definitely one to keep by the bedside as the dark nights draw in!
