Product Description

Product Description
Abi knows there's something special about Josh the moment his gorgeous blue eyes meet hers. But she's so used to keeping her secret hidden that she just can't trust him. Then one night, babysitting with Josh, something terrible happens and Abi's secret is revealed. Will Josh stand by her, and will Abi learn to accept the way she is? A moving and tension-filled book tackling the difficult subject of epilepsy in a sensitive and non-patronising way. Brian Keaney has been praised for his mixture of emotional insight and action-filled storylines, and Bitter Fruit has been shortlisted for the North East Children's Book Award.

4.0 out of 5 stars Falling for Joshua, 26 Sep 2005
By A Customer
This book is about a 14 year old girl called Abi, who has epilepsy. When visiting her elder sister, Laura, and Laura's newborn son, in hospital, she meets a boy called Joshua, a.k.a Josh. She meets him again and he asks her out... This book is about how she copes with the desicion whether to tell him about the fact that she has epilepsy. Tangled up with this are several family problems, though, will Abi be able to cope with that as well? A heart-warming and easy read, this book is fabulous, and provides insight into the lives of people with epilepsy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but not as romantic as it promises., 22 Mar 2002
By A Customer
Abi has met a boy she really likes, but is scared to tell him she has epilepsy. This is a quick read, and quite compulsive despite being a little predictiable. It's presentation of epilepsy is quite educational, and the descriptions of the seizures really effect you; it is endorsed by the British Epilepsy Association. As someone who understood very little about epilepsy, it made me feel more sympahty and admiration for sufferers, but the novel just wasn't very engrossing.
