4.0 out of 5 stars Splendid, 4 Dec 2003

(REAL NAME)
A rhyming history of Britain is one of those books you never knew you wanted until you read it. Throughout the book the rhyming couplets never grow tired and you don't set bored due to the natural pace of it.
This said it doesn't cover much detail in some places and does stop too early (in 1966). Still it is a book well worth having and would make a great gift.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rhyme of the Ancient Astronomer, 28 Dec 2003
More known for his popular works on astronomy, James Muirden has turned his agile mind to a lively and catching expression of our own history. While the reader of this book may never gain a deep understanding of our history, the rhythm and life breathed into the events by the author may well make the casual observer of history want to go and find out more - far better than the old classical text books of history that the reviewer grew up with! To end the passage of historical time in 1966 is not a flaw, rather a challenge to anyone to produce a synopsis of the last three and a half decades in anything less than free verse.
