Product Description

Review

Thomas Laird has a knack for taking the reader into a very disturbing world. Jimmy Parisi is a successful cop, riding high with the Chicago PD and enjoying his family (two kids he has raised single-handedly) and his beautiful young fianc e. But in the city, someone is raping and murdering young women, and mutilating their corpses unspeakably. The killer, nicknamed The Farmer, becomes an obsession with Jimmy, who is convinced that this is not the work of a psychopath, powered by random impulses. His business is the supplying of fresh organs to the medical black markets. And his brokers are a very sinister group indeed. Familiar territory, yes, but handled with a degree of freshness and innovation. As Parisi and his new wife find their lives on the line, the reader will find that putting the book down is a difficult task. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Product Description

Jimmy Parisi is a cop with everything going for him - a good career with the Chicago PD, kids who have grown into nice teenagers through his single handed hard work and a beautiful young redhead who's just agreed to become his wife. But suddenly the flipside of Jimmy's life comes into play. Someone is raping and murdering young women, then mutilating their corpses. Is this a brand new Jack the Ripper, transplanted to the streets of Chicago, or is there some method behind this cutter's madness? The cops nickname the murderer 'The Farmer' as the grisly evidence suggests he's harvesting female organs for some sinister illegal trade. Using criminal profiling techniques, Parisi narrows his list of possible perpetrators to three- and then to a sole entry. Now he has the scent he is relentiess in tracking his quarry down. Killer and cop are set for an unforgettable confrontation, with Parisi's new wife clearly in the Cutter's sights...

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect summer thriller!, 14 April 2002

This review is from: Cutter (Hardcover)
CUTTER is the fastest read on the current crop of serial killer thrillers. Once you take it up, you won't put it down. The Farmer is the creepiest multiple murderer since Hannibal Lector, and he makes Harrris' Cannibal look civilized. You'll be rooting for Jimmy Parisi and his copper wife Natalie to nail The Farmer in a conclusion that will stay with you a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jack the Ripper is alive!, 19 Mar 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Cutter (Hardcover)
Thomas Laird's modern day Farmer is Jack the Ripper bloody-well come alive. Although you know who the killer is early on, the author does a masterful job of leading you on the chase in a thrilling conclusion. I hope the author carries out more books using the Chicago detective, Jimmy Parisi. I purchased this book based on the review in the "Independent" and was not disappointed.
