Delilah has made a big decision. In fact, finally she's made several. She's leaving Bradford, leaving her boyfriend Lennie, and taking her Tom Jones collection, her pet whippet, Fatso and herself to the bright lights of the big city ... And now that she's here, it seems that down-to-earth Delilah is just what the big city was waiting for. But whatever she does, Delilah is determined to finally make the right choices for her future, in love and work. So whether Charlie, the wealthy media boy, or Sweet Sam in his caf are right for her is something she needs to decide - on her own. And then she can really start to live

4.0 out of 5 stars Charming light-hearted romance, 28 Jul 2001
By A Customer
I set out to dislike this book, thinking it was more Chick Lit trash. And it is Chick Lit, basically, and yet I found myself enjoying it all the same. The writing isn't bad and it's certainly fast-paced (more than most romances) and very readable. It never really grabbed it at any point or made me feel any real emotion for any character, and yet it was just a warm, light, pleasant read. A bit like reading 'More' magazine - instantly forgettable, full of cliches and with a hero who (Charlie) is a sexual dark-handsome-stranger fantasy rather than a real character - and yet even while you're thinking 'this is complete pulp fiction' you love it all the same!...

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect feelgood book, 13 Aug 2000
By A Customer
I read this on the bus to work in the morning and it really cheered me up. I loved the characters, thought that it was very wittily written, enjoyed the descriptions of London and Notting Hill, and I especially loved the whole Tom Jones theme running through it. It's a simple story of girl meets boy, but the author has used a sharp eye and clever observations to make this romance stand out from all the rest.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, 1 Nov 2006
By Ronke Adeyemi "chick lit babe" (London) - See all my reviews

I really liked this book but I really loved Vivienne. She made the book tick and Alexandra if you are reading this you need to give Vivienne her own book. Delilah was a good character although she didn't seem to do much apart from depend on men but the ending just showed that nice guys don't always come last.
