2.0 out of 5 stars Flatters to deceive, 24 Jul 2007
By Terry Osborne "Terry O" (Leicester, England) - See all my reviews
I read the reviews so decided to try out the book. Lots of big typeface and few words on the page, I have seen too many of these books before. This is effectively 10 powerpoint slides s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d into a book. The ideas are fine, but nothing that I have not seen before, in more detail, elsewhere.

I took a look at the author's website, and, surprise, surprise, some of the reviewers here on Amazon are the same people as give him 'testimonials' on his website for his courses. Not sure of the integrity of all involved.

Overall, it's an okay book, but not worthy of the lavish praise heaped on it by some of these 'reviewers'

5.0 out of 5 stars Teach yourself exercises are a God send, 21 April 2007
By Mrs. Jayne Smith (Liverpool, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Written in an easy to read format, analogies that everyone can relate to, and easy to learn exercises that should be put into effect every day.

The most insightful part for me is the Presentations chapter. For years I've been trying to tell people not to write scripts on their PowerPoint slideshows. Now, there's a book to tell people why not, what to write, what to show and what to tell. Whenever I have to prepare PowerPoint for any of my clients, I direct them to The Jelly Effect. To help them get their point across in the way they would want to be heard, follow the essential exercises in this book.

This book is constantly referred to and will remain on my work desk for a long, long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Superb!, 9 May 2007
Well, I have to say I am stunningly impressed: I have reads dozens of books on this topic in support of my work as a business coach and trainer - and this is by far the best!

It has sections on effective networking, pitching for sales and business presenting, as well as being packed with tons of top tips for communication in general. This book has the gift of being simple without being simplistic: Every single suggestion will have instant and profound impact on your communication. And the best part is everything has been written in such a way as you can apply it and immediately reap the rewards!

I have recommended this book to all my clients. Buy it - you'll be very glad you did!
