5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious! A great buy at a great price., 11 Aug 2000
By A Customer
Well presented, with easy step-by-step instructions and pictures to help novices like me. Many of the recipes are of dishes my mother cooked, and I can't give a higher recommendation than that! With the aid of this book, I hope I will be able to cook them just as well. Certainly, all the recipes I have tried so far have turned out to be delicious.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Great Book, 31 Aug 2006

This is a really great book. The recipes are point by point (rather than paragraphs of information) and easy to follow. There aren't large list of ingredients. Being Asian but new to cooking Indian food, this book is a really good starter book. The dishes are tradional and delicious, and it's the best Indian cook book I've bought.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, mostly easy recipes, 21 Dec 2005
I've wanted to cook authentic Indian meals for a long while but always been disappointed with the results I've achieved with other books. Often the recipes were overly complicated or time consuming.

Sumana Ray's book is a breath of fresh air. The recipes are easy to follow and taste fantastic. Don't get this book if you want to taste the bog standard Indian restaurant fayre, this is authentic home cookery and as such is much more interesting. Since buyind this book I have been disappointed by restaurant food.

The book will also guide you through making basic ingredients such as onion mixture, panir and garam massala.

Allow a little time the first time you make the recipes and you'll need a good stock of spices mostly easily available these days.

An absolute bargain at the price.
