Product Description

Product Description

Structured as a complete course in interior design, this text explains the principles of successful design through a series of easy-to-follow modules, complete with tasks and exercises for you to carry out at home. It is divided into two sections: the basics of good design, from lighting, colour, texture, pattern, scale and balance, to styles which can be used as references. The second section takes you through each element of the room, from walls, windows, floors to furnishings, and discusses the different approaches available for each. Examples include detailed looks at wall coverings, from special paint finishes to fabrics, as well as window treatments and choosing furniture. This part then concludes with "finishing touches" which looks at choosing accessories and details that complete the interior.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite a course, 30 May 2002
By ntora@in.gr (Heraklion, Greece) - See all my reviews
I bought this book hoping to get what the title states: A course in Interior Design. Instead I got an advisory guide of tips and tricks but without the actual basics. More practical then theoretical. I wanted an exact explanatory analysis of the Interior Design aspects but a got the author's opinion more often. If you wish to redecorate your house or like to read about it, as a passtime, then this is the book for you. If, on the other hand, you really want a "course" in interior design then look elswere.
