3.0 out of 5 stars Basic but good, 17 Nov 2003
By David Pettitt (Sevenoaks, Kent United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
The guide covers all the GCSE syallabus and divides it all into clear and easy to find sections. Each section starts of with a little fill in the gap test at the beggining to try and revive forgotten knowledge. I found this very useful as it only looked for a couple of key words here and there. This section really jogged my memory. It then moves on and explains the basic stuff that you need to know about each section eg the league of nations's successes and failures. I found this section slightly limited and although the basic stuff is there I believe that you will need a little more background knowledge for the exam itself. Once you have read through these it gives you a couple of practice questions at the end. These practice questions are probably the most useful bits in the book as it allows you to put your knowldge into practice.
There is a little bonus in this book as it gives you information on the South Africa coursework at the back which is useful if you don't have a history test book. Overall the book is maybe a bit basic but is a good starter from which you can add more knowledge where necessary.
