Product Description

Book Description

Hailed by The Cult's Ian Astbury as 'the biggest thing this century' when they exploded into existence in 1986, Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction were the most outrageous rock band on the planet, sex- and drug-driven metal mayhem drenched in leather, fur, and psychedelic swastika chic. Zodiac himself was incarnated by former comic illustrator and self-confessed acid casualty, Mark Manning. In 'Fucked by Rock', his official autobiography, Manning recalls astonishing, often shocking, and frequently hilarious episodes and events from a decade of debauchery, derangement and brain-damaging excess. Illustrated throughout, 'Fucked by Rock' is the ultimate rock'n'roll testament, a scream from post-rock purgatory. With an introduction by Bill Drummond of the KLF and K Foundation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bum sex, choc movies & rock'n'roll, 8 Feb 2002
The truth the whole truth & nothing but the truth (except the exaggerated bits) - Zodiac's memoirs are the most grotesque stories of tug shops, scat vids, bad sex, high-grade drugs and the birth of the legend that is Mindwarp, a ten year long tale. If you ever wanted to be a rock star, you should read this book & be glad as hell you never made it. In the UK it comes with a free CD (four audio tracks) which sounds way AC/DC - at least my copy did.

Kneel & worship the High Priest Of Love! For he is the Tattooed Beat Messiah!! YEAH!

5.0 out of 5 stars filth, filth and more filth, 3 Sep 2003
By GrinninRockLoon "Ladies, please form an order... (the real world, feet firmly on the ground) - See all my reviews
Most of this filthy little 'journal' is hysterically funny the rest is clearly the product of hysteria and a twisted passion for all things filthy. You feel like you need a good bath and a checkup after every other chapter, it must be contagious and probably fatal. Take any of it remotely seriously and you'll be missing the point. This book is as serious a piece of non-fiction as Zody's songs are serious works of art. Believe that more than 15% of this 'autobiography' is true and check yourself in to the funny farm with all the other psychotronic love commandoes. Comic book filth to a very metal soundtrack, its a hoot! And Cobalt Stargazer rules

5.0 out of 5 stars High Priest of High, 7 Jan 2006
By M. GILL "Mind Crash" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Zodiac Mindwarp, circa 'High Priest Of Love' was/were awesome; that six track mini album contains at least five classic punk/metal tracks. Having seen them live just as they began to break into the big time ('86?), and still having the scars from that night to prove it (try falling backwards down the entire length of a tube station escalator and see how you fare!), I was more than a little intrigued to find out what the hell they were actually all about. This book is, as Drummond so accurately predicts in the intro, full of bullet-proof prose. It is not for the faint-hearted or those easily shocked; being a tale of drink and drug fuelled debauchery, loaded with dark humour and insights into the realities of life on the rock n roll rollercoaster. Thoroughly enjoyable!
