5.0 out of 5 stars A bizarre, but brilliant, book, 16 Mar 2006
By A Customer
At first this book appears utterly pointless. But it’s actually great fun and surely that’s reason enough for its existence. It’s incredibly eclectic so you never quite know what’s over the page. The book starts by looking how Elvis might’ve died due to a cycling deficiency i.e. he was eating 65,000 calories a day, over 25 times the maximum daily allowance for British men (presumably Americans are allowed more). That’s the equivalent of 108 Big Macs! Elvis would’ve had to cycle over 160 miles every day at a speed of 17mph to burn this off, something he clearly didn’t do. That’s just for starters (please excuse the pun). What follows includes a look at which is more crowded: Jakarta, Ikea or Hell, how many cigarettes the Chinese smoke in a day, where adult women outnumber men, why you must never play cards with a man named ‘Doc’, and how to make a camel smoothie.

I think I’m beginning to like numbers – my bank manager will be pleased.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent facts to freak people out, 16 Mar 2006
By A Customer
Being punched by Muhammad Ali is like being hit by a car. James Bond slept with 775000 women in his life. 45000 Americans are injured by toilets every year. 3 million British people get drunk every day. Jakarta is more crowded than hell. The three-toed sloth walks faster than the average American. Birds evolved 100 million years after reptiles - so the egg came before the chicken. I can't stop quoting this stuff at people! A dangerously addictive book.
