One look at the photograph on the cover gives you a clue of the inside.....FAST and exciting.

Those likely to buy the book will recognise a RN Phantom "Jet-Jocky" is no ordinary bloke and if he writes about his life and flying, then it is worth your time to pay attention to this books contents. It is worth the money believe me.

I've read my fair share of avaition books and there are not that many written by the actual Test Pilot that are so easily read and understood.

Brian Davies has written this book in the same way he obviously flew....sharp, precise and with an exacting manner.
This book is for the consummate aviation enthusiast, itching to know what makes an illustrious World Record Holder and "Top Gun" Naval Test Pilot tick. From pistons through to the Phantom at Mach 2.1, it is all here. The early 50's to the early 70's is all covered in an easy and engaging manner. Carrier ops are all explained in exciting detail. Having flown 50 aircraft types, Brian's book makes for an exceedingly good read - all 264 pages of it - and loads and loads of photos. It all adds up to why he was a recipient of "Man of the Year" for 1969.

There are plenty "Yells, bells and smells" in this fascinating book, but sadly little of Brian's civilian flying career. Having said that, I thoroughly recommend this book as a marker in aviation history not to be overlooked.
