This is one of the best recipes books I've read. As a student, I have a limited budget when it comes to food, and this book caters just for us. The recipes are simple and easy to follow, the ingredients used are easily available, and no dish takes longer than an hour to prepare. The final result is almost always delicious!! Alistair Williams takes dishes I would have shied away from and sets them out in a straight forward easy to understand format - even a sports student could understand it!! There is a wide range of recipes from all over the world, including lasagne, chile con carne and pork provençal, and also a lot of yummy dessert ideas! Williams is very in touch with students of today giving a conversion chart in mugs as opposed to lbs, even giving a recipe for cheese on toast...just in case you didn't know how it's done! This book has been a god-send for me and I have been able to impress myself and my flatmates with my lipsmacking new meals! "Student Grub" is a must have for all students who want to eat well without spending a fortune.

I purchased this as a gift, our son used it extensively at university and still uses it from time to time. All the recipes are reliable and tasty - a very good cookbook.

perfect for the person who doesnt know where to start in the kitchen...as a person who doesnt hav a clue and usually who heads for the biscuits and crisps, this book shed light on how to prepare quick and easy snaks that are pretty healthy too
although no pictures are included in the book, its easy enough to follow, very few ingredients required too!

definatly recommended, user friendle language
