Product Description

Product Description

Alan Moore continues to shape, mould and batter the superhero genre with this second satirical and sly collection of Tomorrow Stories! Once more you can thrill to the genre-twisting exploits of the liquid avenger, Splash Brannigan, and the comely crimebuster Cobweb; tremble before the genetic superpower of The First American and the towering intellect of child inventor Jack B. Quick, and swoon before 'gentleman sleuth' Greyshirt! Illustrating these terrific tales is an awesome collection of artistic talent, including Kevin Nowlan and Rick Veitch, all of them giving life to the imagination of the comics industry's greatest writer!

5.0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER ALAN MOORE TRIUMPH, 7 Oct 2003
I cannot sing Alan Moore's praises enough.

If you've read plenty of his other work, specifically the other ABC titles Top 10, Promethea, Tom Strong and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen then you are sure to enjoy this.

All of the different characters are great reads and are superbly written (can you expect nothing less?), and just so I don't sound like a fawning disciple the artwork for each title is distinct and excellent by itself but when combined with Moore's scripts they make comic gold.

My personal fave out of all of the seperate stories would be Jack B.Quick but each to their own.

Overall, buy it now, and if this is your first taste of Alan Moore then along with the above titles I'd also strongly urge you to pick up Watchmen and From Hell.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moore? Yes, please..., 9 Dec 2008
By Greywolf (Wiltshire, UK) - See all my reviews
One of the distinguishing characteristics of Alan Moore's work is a wicked line in humour. In the 'Tommorrow Stories' this hitherto side-lined aspect of his talent is finally let off the leash. The result is some of the funniest, most intelligent writing I've ever come across in comics. The stand-out strip is, as the previous reviewer said, Jack B. Quick. Young Jack is a mid-West American farm boy, aged somewhere around 8, who just happens to be a genius. He is a genuinely inspired comic creation and it's one of the abiding mysteries of life that he isn't starring in his own long-running series. His adventures are real laugh-out-loud stuff. The super-dumbo, First American, and his unfortunate side-kick, U.S.Angel, are close seconds in the favourite stakes. Wonderful stuff. If you like superheroes, appreciate good writing, and like a good giggle, shell out a few quid on this. You won't regret it.
Oh, and the artwork's pretty fabulous too. Few people can draw half a cow like Kevin Nowland ... No, you'll have to read it to find out ...
