Product Description

Product Description

The galaxy-spanning saga of Transformers: Generation 2 continues...As Jhiaxus and the new Cybertronians continue their remorseless advance across the universe, colonising and mechaforming planets as they go, the Autobots and the Decepticons enter a wary alliance against this common foe. But the threat of Jhiaxus and all he represents pales in comparison to the Swarm, a faceless mass consuming Transformers wholesale. What is it? Where did it come from? The answers strike close to home, and for Optimus Prime only one course of action remains...he must die! Plus, treachery from Starscream (of course), Megatron unleashed and the most shocking ending of all time.

3.0 out of 5 stars More Transformers!!!, 1 Mar 2003

Prime and Megatron fighting side by side. Naughty Starcream sneaking around behing Meg's back. Prime gets killed....again.
This comic has it all! Unfortunately, after a promising start in 'Dark Designs', this book is a bit of a let-down. The comic was cancelled after a dozen or so issues. It's a shame, really, as the writer, Simon Furman, has set up some great possibilities for the future in the Leige Maximo.
Buy this book if you're a fan. Buy this book if you bought 'Dark Designs' and need to know what happens next.
Otherwise, buy 'Target 2006', 'Fallen Angel', 'All Fall Down' and 'End of the Road', all of which are FANTASTIC - AMAZING.

4.0 out of 5 stars It never ends..., 25 April 2004
By Mr. J. R. Coupland (Somewhere on Earth) - See all my reviews

The second volume of 'Generation 2' doesn't quite match the heights of'Dark Designs'. The "wow" factor of the new artwork, incredible plottwists and mature writing is lessened as the story passes into its laterstages.
This is not to say that this volume is anything less than a great read. Asa conclusion to the G2 storyline it is more than fine, continuallyreaching for new heights all the way through. Plot points are tied up instyle, with naturally great writing by Simon Furman and eyecatchingvisuals by the regular series artists and longtime Transformers artist,Geoff Senior. Transformer favourites such as Strascream and Grimlock aregiven plenty of room to make their presence felt.
The story ends on a cliffhanger which was perhaps intended never to betaken up. This is as it should be - the conflict continues and life, forthe Transformers, goes on. "It never ends"...

This is the 1st part of the Generation 2 storyline. I remember being blown away by this comic when it was first issued back in the '90s. On reflection, however, other than than Andy Wildman's, the art is somwhat underwhelming. The story arc, as can be expected from Simon Furman, is fantastic, and builds to a great climax with a tantalising glimpse of what's to come in the second book - 'Dark Designs'.
This is probably a book for Transformers fans rather than the general comics reader. If you're looking for an introduction to Transformers, you'll do better getting 'Target 2006'!

The end of the series that started it all. And what an end. I never saw this coming when I picked up the first of this series, since the storyline takes so many twists and turns... Read more
