If you thought the film was fantastic, you'll love this book, 11 Jan 2001
The price of this book, though reduced, nearly put me off buying it. I can honestly say now, having received the book, all 488 pages were worth every penny. I've had the book for nearly a week now, and still haven't finished "reviewing" it. The book is filled from front to back with quality material. Including: story board drawings from the well known scenes from the film, black & white and colour concept drawings, double page fold-outs of drawings, film scripts, billboard poster pictures and screen shots. From the original story board drawings you can even see some of the action that ended up on the cutting-room floor. The book captures the feel and look of the film to perfection, with comments from the Wachowski brothers, and the artists who worked on the film. So if you want something to add to your Matrix collection, or you just loved the film, this book is just what you're looking for - Guaranteed in my view.

The Matrix IS Art, 25 May 2003
For any fan of 'The Matrix', this is the definitive book to gain a wider understanding of the making of the film. It includes an 'unreal' amount of storyboards, thumbnails and conceptuals, with enough comments from the artists (Steve Skroce, Geof Darrow, etc) to keep any fan intrigued. The level of detail, particularly in the conceptuals, is truly staggering, and really gives an impression of the commitment not only the Wachowskis, but everyone, had to this film. If this is not enough, included is the full script and deleted scenes; there are, however, several obvious changes to this script and the final one, most notably the exploration of the five other 'potentials' and Neo's final speech. Criticisms levelled at the book could be of the lack of the making of the special special effects or ideology of the film. However, this is not what the book is meant to be, and is the perfect companion to the film for anyone who is interested in the design, and essentially, conception of 'The Matrix'.

This is a must if 'The Matrix' blew you away!, 6 Jan 2001
I had this book bought for me as a present, it is a masterful collection of art. The insight into how the Matrix concept was fleshed out and brought to life is intimate as it is detailed. If you are a comic fan then you will appreciate the huge amount of storyboard art ! If you are into finding out the little nuances that took place behind the scenes, then the little stories and comments that are spread throughout this huge book will make you smile! It is a bible on one of the biggest movies of the last millennium. Recommended, heartily recommended !!
