5.0 out of 5 stars a worthwhile biog, 10 May 2008
I happened to know Bertie Mee and i have to say that i believe that this is a very fair reflection of his life. For all his detractors it has to be said that he hauled Arsenal out of its deep sleep and brought a discipline to the club which had been sadly lacking in the previous manager. However he was prone to make mistakes and after the Golden period of 1969-1973 these mounted up in such a disasterous way as to nearly get the club relegated in 1976.So his "resignation" was not unexpected. He is the sort of person who for better or worse is unlikely now to take charge of a Premiereship club. However his place in the history of Arsenal is assured and anyone interested in the club or the era of football will find this an interesting book.
