Product Description

Product Description

This title charts the place of football in the city of Liverpool and the recent relative decline of Liverpool FC along with some of the reasons for the club's dramatic fall from grace. It also reports on the extraordinary "revival" season for Liverpool FC in 2000/1 as the club battled in Europe and at home for honours across four different fronts. The book includes comment from some of the key protagonists at Anfield as Liverpool FC, under Parry and the enigmatic Houllier, begins to build, on and off the pitch, an exciting new footballing era for the club, dragging Liverpool FC into the 21st century and, ultimately, becoming even bigger and better than the great football epochs of the team's history under legends such as Shankly, Paisley and Fagan.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read!, 9 May 2002
By A Customer
For those who can't believe it happened, or who just want to relive it again, this book chronicles Liverpool FC's amazing treble year in considerable, match by match detail.
Interspersed with this is commentary on Liverpool's off field activities and wider footballing issues, providing a thought-provoking backdrop to the events on the pitch.
Best bit? Well, a chapter dedicated to the Fowler/Owen saga makes great reading, highlighting the physical and mental problems that both strikers have had to deal with in their short careers. Also, of course, there is a VERY happy ending.
Highly recommended.
