Product Description
Synopsis
Ignoring the lies and the fabrications that surround Scotland and her tipple, this is a text in which Scots tell the truth about their national drink. It is written by people who know what they write about, and love what they know. It is about whisky and the real Scotland behind the spin of advertisers and gift shops. Since 1970 Scots have reasserted their cultural independence and rediscovered the fineness of their scotch; a renaissance celebrated not only by Scots but also by the rest of the world.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting compilation, 25 Oct 2005
The work of Philip Hills is a very interesting compliation of "short stories" about Whisky written by Scots. I did enjoy some very much (e.g., the history about cask and maturation) and some less (e.g. poems). With the mix of topics reviewed, everyone will find something of interest to him and some not.
I enjoyed this book, like any connoissour would, but not a novice.
