A cracking read for any blues fan, 30 Nov 2004
This is by far the best Chelsea book I've read so far. The author, Brian Mears, is a former chairman and grandson of the club's founder. Written in a very entertaining and often humerous style, this book doesn't dwell too much on mundane match descriptions (which can be a failing in footy books). It covers all aspects of this colourful club's history, it's creation, players, fans, managers and all of the various characters and incidents which have shaped Chelsea FC down the turbulent road towards it's centenary year. And boy, have there been some characters! "Little" Willie Foulke, Hughie Gallacher, Lawton, Bentley, Greavsie, Ossie, Huddy, Chopper Harris, Wisey and many more illuminate the tales in these here pages.Packed with the kind of insight which few other authors would have, this is a must have book for anyone with Chelsea in their heart.

Blue is the colour, 18 Jan 2004
What a great read ! If you were around in the sixties, the 'Golden Years' of the blues, you will love this book. How refreshing to see such a fine tribute to the late Peter Houseman. A must for any Chelsea fan
