Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Picture This is a stunning picture book for the very young, filled with warm colour and a unique crackle-glazed style of illustration that gives a fresh and unusual take on a child's first word book. Words and pictures are cleverly combined to give clear, simple meaning to everyday words, and key images are repeated throughout the book to give a sense of continuity and familiarity.

Alison Jay's stylish, delicate visuals add an air of sophistication to a familiar theme, making Picture This perfect for parents and children who enjoy curling up together to explore the wonder of words and pictures. (Ages 3 to 5) --Sarah Taylor

Synopsis
Words and images combine on each page of this classic picture book to create an introduction to familiar words that children and their parents will want to return to again and again. With a wealth of detail, Jay has created a series of pictures where elements cleverly reappear from spread to spread.

5.0 out of 5 stars My nine month old baby really loves this book., 18 Feb 2002
By A Customer
The illustrations are fabulous and packed with lovely details. There's loads to talk about and you notice new touches every time you dip into it. Its so much more than just a dreary first word book- there is so much to fire the imagination and it has real lasting value. Set to become a classic, I love it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have book for all children, 21 April 2002
By MelMay65 (Australia) - See all my reviews
This is a beautifully crafted picture book which interlinks everyday images and words in a surreal dream like world. CAR becomes a classic blue & yellow jalopy being driven on a windy day by a distunguished, suit-wearing hare. Mr Hare's angry at being forced to stop at a crossing whilst a tortoise makes its way to the opposite side.

Every picture tells a story and Alison Jay gives
the reader so much to play with. Picture this is a joy to read and each visit brings surprise and pleasure as parent and child spot something else on the page linking it to another word.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still interesting for me after hours of reading with toddler, 23 Oct 2000
By A Customer
Fantastic illustrations of all sorts of everyday items for small children, presented in an original and captivating style. The same pictures are incorporated again and again into other designs - extremely cleverly done. My 18 month old has spent hours searching for all the cats, dogs, fish and lighthouses. There are many hours of entertainment in this book, and if your toddler will put it down, I bet you won't!
