My toddler loves this touch-and-feel journey through the colourful flora and fauna of the oceans. It is impossible not to want to feel the roughness of the lobster's shell, the scaliness of the tropical fish and the softness of the otter's fur, but sensibly the pages are thick enough to withstand curious little fingers. Small enough to be managable yet large enough to include some of the best illustrations I have ever seen in a children's book, this is a welcome relief from the plethora of farm animal books that seem to swamp the children's board book market. I bought it to follow up a visit to a local aquarium and, as a result, my daughter has produced her first word - "fish"!
