The book is well laid out and has a most comprehensive range of over 1,000 'specialist sites' to satisfy nearly all collectors. Very occasionally, the website reference is incorrect; likely to have changed after the copy for the book was finished. But in the introduction you are referred to search engines and how to use them... Some sites with lots of pictures take ages to download. It would have been a useful addition if the authors had shown the size of the download before you log onto a website. Overall, an essential reference book for the serious collector.

Anyone who has tried to find information on the web knows how frustrating and time consuming that can be. The authors of this book have short circuited the process by combing the web on your behalf, to give you just the really worthwhile antiques and collectibles sites. As befits a Web guide, it is truly international in scope, including museum sites from Japan and New Zealand as well as Europe and America. Intelligent organisation makes the book easy to use - after an introduction for Web novices the next eighty pages cover general information sites. These include both buying opportunities (antiques centres, auctions and fairs) and information sources such as museums, specialist publications and trade associations. There follow some one hundred an fifty pages devoted to specialist sites, ranging from Advertising and Packaging to Wood and Treen. As in the general information sites the entries include the title and address of the site and a brief description to give a flavour of its contents. For antiques or collectibles enthusiasts with Web access this is an essential source of information - the cost will be more than repaid by saving time otherwise wasted in fruitless Web searches.
