5.0 out of 5 stars Indispenable!, 15 Jan 2002
By A Customer
One has grown used to the high standard of the Miller's guides over the years but this new edition not only continues the tradition of excellence but almost encourages new collectors/buyers into the market in that it illustrates items so effectively and gives such succinct yet informative descriptions. Above all else, it not only gives sensible price guides (unlike the television antiques shows where prices/values are often grossly inflated) but shows what dealers would be asking and, by pro rata deduction, what a seller might reasonably expect. It also assists in giving home-owners a rough idea of insurance valuations. In all, this is not just a book for buyers and sellers but an essential reference tome for owners. It additionally bases prices upon overseas (non-UK) auctions as well as British ones, so the book has an immediate international appeal and value. The only criticism is that it does not, in some instances, deal with highly specific genres of items that are coming to the fore as collectors' interests change. Nevertheless, if one is interested in antiques of all kinds, this is the Bible to own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still the best, 23 Jul 2001
By A Customer
Contrary to what seems to be the general consensus of the reviews here, I find this book a must for any serious collector or dealer. It does not give a lot of info on each item, but it was never its intention to give in-debt information. It is a price-guide and an easy reference book, and as such it is the best available.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book is not good for the amateur - too vague, 29 Sep 2000
By A Customer
While the number of items listed in this book is extensive, the information is not. This book is not for the inexperienced collector. Very limited information on identification of pieces, very few pictures, and not user friendly. If you do not know the exact nature(manufacturer, year, etc) of the piece you are trying to look up - you are out of luck.
