5.0 out of 5 stars A book with a good view, 21 May 2001
By A Customer
As with every other Lonely Planet book I've used, it's a must for the traveller. This edition on Florence does an excellent job packing in all there is to see and do in Florence and the surrounding area - which is definately not easy. It covers the usual Lonely planet information on How to get there, where to stay etc, but gives an excellent review of all the galleries / museums , statues and Piazza's that'll you can find in Florence - so that you can pick the ones that interest you. Helpful advice and tips on how to get to other places such as Rome and Pisa, but also to the "off the beaten track" places such as Greve in Chianti. It helped me find A room with a glorious view and a very memorable trip to some of the most beautiful churches / paintings / scuptures and countryside that I've ever seen - worth every penny!

5.0 out of 5 stars It felt like being a local, 9 Feb 2002
The uncanny accuracy of the directions to out of the way places and the growing confidence during your stay that what was said about a building, astoria, tradition or journey was accurate made this a book that was unputdownable in florence

5.0 out of 5 stars Made our trip!!, 27 Oct 2006
After recently arriving home from a fantastic trip to Florence (Siena and Pisa), I must say how positively useful my husband and I found this guide. It gave us up to date information on the best locations to visit (away from the tourist trail), information on the best times to visit important places of interest (with helpful hints) and, most important of all, where to dine. We didn't have a bad meal! We also found the walks listed, very useful. All in all, this was a fantstic guide and well worth the money! Thanks Lonely Planet!!
