1.0 out of 5 stars A very disappointing purchase, 17 Jun 2005

A very disappointing purchase

This so called guide to the Peloponnese is 224 pages long.

Of these 224 pages you are treated to -

Fist 80 Pages - General Info about Greece
Next 15 Pages - Athens....Having just returned from Greece I can confirm that Athens hasn't moved and is not located in the Peloponnese
Last 20 pages - Language Index etc.

This leaves a grand total of 109 pages on this wonderful region of Greece, less than half the book. The information contained in these 109 pages is very shallow and I suspect it has just been lifted wholesale from a Lonely Planet guide to the whole of Greece. We found more detailed information in the Rough Guide to Greece whose section on the region is 130 pages long and contains far more text on each page.

At best this is a lazy effort trading on the Lonely Planets reputation, at worst its a straight out con.

If you can, go and visit the Peloponnese, it's wonderful, but don't take this book.
