Product Description

Product Description

Neil Perry's favourite meal at home is a simple one: an omelette, a salad, and a glass of wine, and it sums up his approach to home cooking. It's not just a dish, but a vital component of life, to be enjoyed by all the senses, and preferably, in the company of people you love or enjoy. The Food I Love is all about cooking and eating simply but well. With more than 200 recipes, from light breakfasts through to slow roasts, detailed explanations of the techniques to ensure success with every one of them, and anecdotes from Neil on their place in the home kitchen and on the shared table, it's the definitive cookbook for the contemporary cook of any skill level. Each recipe is closely interlinked with the next, and while they can be enjoyed individually at random, they are best appreciated as a whole. As Neil explains each technique for cooking key ingredients, he introduces the supporting recipes that demonstrate the skill in its purest form, then introduces variations, accompaniments and sauces to build a comprehensive repertoire for every occasion. Chapters include:Breakfast; Energisers and Fresh Fruit; Sandwiches; Eggs; Soups; Salads; Rice; Pasta; Seafood; Poultry; Meat; Vegetarian and Vegetable Accompaniments; Sauce Accompaniments and Sweets.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Food I Love - Neil Perry, 19 May 2005
By A Customer
Not only is this a fabulous cookbook, but it is also an absolutely beautiful book to have on your bookshelf. The recipes and photographs are mouth-watering. There is a lot of attention to detail which is really helpful - I have learnt lots of new tips and skills. It is a gorgeous book full of contemporary, as well as traditional, recipes, for all hours of the day, and every day of the year.

This book is simple and easy to use but also beautiful and stylish. The recipes are to die for! I thought it was quite expensive and now think it is a bargain! Everything I have cooked so far has worked amazingly and the little tips all the way through have changed the way I think about food. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. It is so much more than just a cookery book. Neil Perry is my new food hero!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book., 17 May 2005
I saw this cookbook reviewed in the newspaper and loved the look of the food. When my own copy arrived it really did not disappoint - it's massive and full of delicious recipes. I was surprised at how much useful info there was about getting your oven to the right temperature and how to cook meat and fish properly, so that was an unexpected bonus. This is the perfect book to give as a present - it's beautiful and practical.
