5.0 out of 5 stars How to do some useful work with scripts, 20 Nov 2004
It is a well written useful book. The scripts are well described and often do a real world job, not something abstract like some other scripting books I could mention. A good read. I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get straight to the good stuff, 18 May 2008

(REAL NAME)
Even if you're relatively new to Linux or to shell scripting, this book will guide you painlessly through the steps needed to do some pretty advanced and very cool things with your computer. You can automate downloading content from your favourite websites, write reminder programs, set up word games, and so much more. The steps for each script are explained, so that you can modify them, hack bits of different scripts together, and get going with making your computer do what you want it to.
