5.0 out of 5 stars a real eye-opener, 17 Jul 2003
Before I read Suicide String I had no idea of the reasons for suicide bombing, or even for some of the terror taking place these days. Keimach's account in this nicely written novel, manages to elucidate all that and more. Who knew the details of the concept of Paradise, or the history of the Assassins from more than a thousand years ago? Reading this was a pleasnat, and also somewhat chilling way to find out. Keimach knows his Middle East history, and the knowledge shows through without being pedantic. I recommend this with no reservations, and would suggest strongly that politicians and police officers in the West give it a concentrated read.

5.0 out of 5 stars couldn't put it down, 12 Jul 2003

If you want to learn about Mid East history and the reasons behind the 9/11 horrors, and be entertained at the same time, then this is the book for you. I now understand the logic governing "martyrdom" and some of the thinking behind suicide bombings. I believe in terror alerts now more than ever. This is a well written piece of serious research,in addition to being a great read. Burt Keimach takes the reader through a thousand years of history, right from the time of the Assassins of hashish fame, to the present menace of Al Quaeda. It should be required reading for everyone in US law enforcement.

5.0 out of 5 stars eye opener, 3 Jul 2003
By A Customer
This book is an eye opener in more ways than one. It reveals aspects of recent history in the Middle East not generally remembered, and it keeps you awake with worry and fear! When will the next maniac explode a bomb? After 9/11 some people are getting blase about terrorism. The public needs to be constantly vigilant. Mr Keimach stresses that over and over in Suicide String. It's a clever novel and a unique approach to a frightening subject.

After I read this book I kept having nightmares about the sheer terror of suicide bombers and other sorts of crazy loons who want to destroy our civilization. Read more
