Product Description

Synopsis

Those of us who live in our so-called 'advanced' nations of the modern world have been educated to use our minds and encouraged to satisfy our physical needs. But in so doing, we have become isolated from the very essence of our existence as individuals - our own spirit. In Shamanic Spirit, Kenneth Meadows introduces Shamanics, his spiritual science of living, which recognises the primacy of the spirit and acknowledges that spirit is inherent in all living beings and life forms. Shamanics is a practical way of becoming aware of our multi-dimensional reality and using that awareness to cultivate and refine the spirit within. Using the symbolic structure of the Medicine Wheel - which helps us establish a sense of direction, extend perception and examine relationships - Meadows presents 33 hands-on experiential exercises that help readers discover the truth about themselves. His approach, also, draws upon and integrates universal shamanic concepts from such regions as the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, India, China and Polynesia to show readers how to release their dormant potentials, generate creativity, and meet the challenges of their lives with confidence and self-assurance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent... but same as the other book (buyers beware) !!, 19 Nov 2005
By A Customer
This is an excellent book by Kenneth Meadows which I would highly recommend to those interested in eclectic Shamanism. This book is Ken's specific version of it which he calls "Shamanics" and it draws from traditions all around the globe. Personally I found that this enhanced both the content and wide appeal of the book.

The book is a mixture of information, instruction and exercises to try out. It also contains a CD of shamanic drumming. However, my main concern was that this book is actually THE SAME BOOK as one of Ken's other books (Where Eagles Fly). The book contents are identical with the exception of the CD which was not included with the original Where Eagles Fly.

This is very misleading as I now have both copies of the book and I feel Amazon should make this clear on the page to warn other potential buyers.

That said, this book is excellent and will get well used so maybe it pays to have an extra copy! ;) This book was originally part of the Earth Quest series published by Element (but the Shamanic spirit edition of this book does not say so). However, I also highly recommend reading the other books in the series (some by Ken Meadows) and some by other authors such as Caitlin Matthews and Joseph Rael (Beautiful Painted Arrow) for those wishing to develop and pursue a shamanic path. Ken's other books include Earth Medicine, The Medicine way, Shamanic experience and Rune Power.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kenneth Meadows knows his stuff., 12 Oct 2009
A great book: Well-written and interesting, as are ball of Kenneth Meadows' books.

Anyone with even a hint of an interest in spirituality should own at least one of his books!
