Product Description

Product Description
As information technology becomes increasingly essential within organizations, the reputation and role of the CIO has been diminishing

To regain credibility and avoid obscurity, CIOs must take on a larger, more strategic role. Here is a blueprint for doing exactly that.

This book shows how CIOs can bridge the gap between IT and the rest of the organization and finally make IT a strategic advantage rather than a cost sink.

About the Author
Marianne Broadbent is associate dean at Melbourne Business School (MBS) and a Gartner Fellow with Gartner, Inc., and coauthor of Leveraging the New Infrastructure (HBS Press, 1998).

2.0 out of 5 stars The New CIO Leader, 2 April 2009
By R. Preece - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book can only really be viewed as a `beginners guide' to becoming a CIO. As a seasoned CIO, I found the content rather bland with a very heavy bias for overstating the obvious. If, however, you are looking to move up the corporate ladder into such a position, then it may well provide a little more insight into Boardroom activity and the importance of IT within a business setting.

5.0 out of 5 stars A look into modern IT organisations, 13 Oct 2006
By JT (Helsinki, Finland) - See all my reviews
The book is about turning challenges facing today's CIOs into opportunities. The issues are outlined and some food for thought is provided.

Worth reading for anyone wanting to elevate their career in an IT organisation. The book also provides insight into customers' thinking for people working in sales and business development in IT companies.
