Given that there is so little printed material on Oracle Spatial this book could easily have been a re-hashing of the official documentation with little, or no, new information. However the authors have created an excellent, all-round book on the subject with plenty of attention to detail. The introductory chapters are good for those new to the subject whilst the more in-depth chapters provide plenty of information for those who have some Oracle Spatial experience. Some "extreme" technical details are missing but only a few people will miss these. The book is also bang up to date (as of today!) with all the latest 10g functionality described. 10g release 2 is imminent, let's hope an update or 2nd edition of this excellent book isn't far behind.
