1.0 out of 5 stars A Complete waste of Time and Money, 14 April 2003
By A Customer
This is a truly awful book. It is, at best, a recapitulation of the ADO.NET help. The sample code demonstrates the relationships between the classes involved within ADO.NET (obviously important) but the examples do not show you anything more pratical than that. In fact, I got the feeling that the code was there just to bulk out the book along with all the tables.

There is one short chapter on DataBinding (quite an important part of using ADO.NET in my opinion) and this chapter just demonstates the use of wizards and again offers no explanation of how databinding works or how make the most of it.

All in all a very superfical work offering little more than the on-line help and offering very little in way of practical information.

5.0 out of 5 stars Details, details, details, 25 April 2002
By A Customer
This book really covers a lot of ground and in such a detailed way. There's no doubt in my mind that it must have taken quite a while to put this book together. I noticed that the book is based on an earlier book by the same author, that covers VB.NET, which obviously makes it easier to write a book this detailed, but knowing the publishing myself, there's a lot of hard work in the book. I think the organization could be better, but the number of topics covered is unbelievable. The class event coverage is just perfect, and I can really use this in my work, but I also enjoyed the Exchange stuff, and chapter 9.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good book, 27 May 2002
By A Customer
I love this book as it has really helped me get started with database programming with VS.NET. The one thing I really enjoy about this book is that it covers a lot more than just ADO.NET which all the other .NET database books seems to do. This book is well written in an easy to read manner and I think this book is a must for any serious .NET database programmer.
