5.0 out of 5 stars A book to be read by all and acted upon, 27 Sep 2004

(REAL NAME)
Rob Nairn has over 40 years experience of Tibetan Buddhism and he writes clearly and eloquently about topics which often mystify westerners which is probably why the 14th Dalai Lama asked him 30 years ago to start teaching meditation. This is a practical book in that Rob is trying to explain why we live and how to live well, how to train in the dream state and how to die well. It is full of rich insight and thought provoking teaching and would also be of help to those who are accompanying a loved one or friend through the last stages of living. Rob is so very straight forward in the way he teaches, and his original training as a professor of Criminology serves well as he makes topics that are esoteric and hard to access - both readable and understandable. A student of mine feels that her whole perspective on life has changed because of the deep wisdom in this book and absolutely for the better. I feel that I need to keep re reading it as there is wisdom in there that I miss for I can only absorb so much wisdom in one reading!!
