5.0 out of 5 stars Java 2 Black Book, 30 April 2003
By A Customer
I found this book extremely helpful both as a learning tool and a reference guide. Being new to programming, I had tried several Java books but found this to be the best. The book is well laid out and easy to read with the relevant parts of the API at the end of each section and an explanation of the most commonly used methods. Each topic in the book is divided into 'In-Depth' and 'Immediate Solutions' sections which helps to make the book appropriate for learning and referencing. It covers all the core aspects like variables types, loops, object-oriented programming, applets and the AWT, but also has sections on Swing, XML and Java Beans.

This is just a great book for all who wants to get a short and useful answer to any question concerning Java. Skip the search in all the regular books, and find the answer and examples to any problem with almost any type of application. A must for all programmers of Java

5.0 out of 5 stars The Black Book, 13 Feb 2004
By Mr J Fenton (Edinburgh, Scotland.) - See all my reviews
I found this book to be an exellent purchase,

It is a highly informative but enjoyable read and though Iam a student and required to do things involving java anyway the subject has started to genuinely interest me quite a bit more than before which i attribute to this publication.

I was encouraged to buy this book due to the success i had with the HTML blackbook and the Java version is no disapointment.

I could sing its praises all day BUT If you buy it and in the unlikely event dont like it it is also heavy enough to use as a door stop.
