1.0 out of 5 stars For the US Market and low production values, 24 Aug 2006
By J. Anderson-Hanney (UK) - See all my reviews

This book was a big disappointment. It is geared towards the American forager and as such much of the information is useless to someone living in Britain. Also the production is 'budget' to say the least, not far off a bound mono photocopy- there are few pictures, none of which were colour and some so poor that you could barely make out what they are. It has been of some use but for this kind of money I certainly regret buying it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nature's Bounty?, 3 Sep 2007
By S. J. Welsh "tubaplayer" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The author talks with some authority about the various plants and animals that are supposed to be nature's bounty, but within the confines of this book they are almost meaningless.

This book is fundamentally flawed in that the monochrome pictures within do absolutely nothing to support the text. They remind me of attempts to copy £10 notes on the copiers of 15 years ago.

How much better would this book have been if it had suitable high definition colour shots of the subject matter, instead of the grey/black mush comprising most of the llustrations. Even the front cover (in colour) is simply a blurred representation of some random woodland scene, with a vague sort of waterfall.

Being an ex-Lincolnshire boy, I can also say that the chapter on catching 'Criters' is seriously lacking. Kevin would quite obviously never make a 'Lincolnshire Poacher'
