This dictionary adopts a clever and highly efficient method of looking up words form the Chinese section. The listings are strictly alphabetical so you dont need to know the tone (1,2,3 or 4) to look up a word - just the basic pinyin word will do. This means it is geared to speed of reference rather than depth of explanation.

This is a refreshing approach to take and makes this beautifully clear dictionary, along with the Oxford Pocket Edition, almost indispensible ( and unlike the Oxford edition - this one WILL fit in a pocket).

To summarise - this Dictionary is for those needing to find a word - fast. It doesn't provide the depth of definitions and examples of usage that you can find in the Oxford Pocket Dictionary.
